One thing I’m hearing from a lot of new clients is that they’re feeling stuck on exactly where to invest their time and energy in their business right now. They’re just not sure what to focus on that will get them the best results (i.e., clients, cash, and brand recognition).
For example, they’re seeing a drop in engagement on social media…they’re feeling unclear about their messaging during this time…they’re not sure how to make their offers more relevant right now.
I could go on and on because I know there’s still a lot of uncertainty during COVID around what actual steps to take in your business that will actually pay off. So that’s exactly what I’m sharing in this week’s blog – where to focus your time and energy right now that will help you create the best results!
#1) When all else fails, focus on getting visible and building relationships
I promise I’m sharing more below, but it really can be that simple to start off with.
No matter what your stage of business, getting in front of your audience and nurturing those relationships never fails. It’s always a safe bet. It always moves your business forward. It’s also not complicated and you can do it for free.
So if you’re feeling overwhelmed/lost/confused around what strategy to use or how to pivot your business during this time, start by scheduling consistent time to get visible and build relationships each week.
Trust that these actions are planting seeds in your business. Remember that connection and staying top of mind are what help you make sales. Use this strategy while you’re finding your clarity on other things in your business (COVID messaging, offers, marketing, etc.).
#2) If you’ve got your visibility and relationship-building strategy on lock, here’s the next step: sales + marketing
I know this is a super broad answer, but stick with me here…
Right now, all that has to look like is: (1) Identify which relevant pain points you solve right now (this is the marketing part), and (2) Shout this messaging from the rooftops while making it easy for people to buy from you (this is the selling part).
It really gets to be that simple. One thing I’ve seen a lot is that business owners are complicating marketing and selling right now (or they’re just not doing it). But the simpler the better right now.
Nutshell: put your focus on writing marketing that lets people know why you’re the best one to solve their current pain points (marketing) and then get that out into the world consistently (selling). That’s it. But, as always, just make sure you’re doing it consistently.
#3) Make mindset work the third part of your focus right now
Steps 1 and 2 were about which simple strategy to focus on to create results in your business right now.
Visibility, relationship-building, marketing, and selling – all vitally important right now.
But it ALL falls flat if you’re not cultivating belief in what you’re doing or if you’re still feeling like crap everyday.
Don’t get me wrong, I want you to feel your feelings during this difficult time, but I ALSO want you doing the work to cultivate belief and confidence as much as possible right now.
So even if you do nothing with the above two steps, and you only put your focus on mindset work, I’m confident you’ll still create results in your biz.
And my prediction here? The motivation to get visible or the inspiration for your current marketing will come as a result of focusing on the mindset work every day.
Because here’s the thing – if none of the simple, focused strategies have resonated with you, that’s a sure-fire sign to put your focus on the mindset work FIRST, and then take action from there.
