Hi, I’m Lisa, Mindset Strategist and Sales Coach for high-achieving and heart-centered women entrepreneurs who are here to make an income AND an impact.
I’m the owner of two successful businesses and am also a licensed psychotherapist.
Also lover of the beach, Mexican food, and a good book (and if I get all 3 together, I’m one happy gal).
Another fun fact: I never wanted to be a sales coach when I grew up. In fact, I wanted to get as far away from sales as I possibly could. Like far, far away.
I wanted to play it safe, where I wouldn’t bug anyone…or make them feel pressured to buy…or where I wouldn’t feel sleazy and salesy. ‘Cause that would feel gross, right?
And guess how many sales I made in my first business with that mindset? Yep, you guessed it: $0. But when I flipped that mindset and trained myself to truly embrace sales and to sell in my own way, wouldn’t you know that my first business crossed the multiple six-figure mark within the first year.
Ahhhhh, there must be a story here, right? You bet!
Like I said, if you would have told me 3 years ago that I’d make a beautiful business out of helping other women sell with confidence and integrity (and thereby helping them grow their own beautiful business), I would’ve laughed right out loud!
But that was the path, my dear.
You see, in 2014 I started my own private therapy practice. I had put in my time in the corporate and the non-profit sectors, and now it was my turn. Time to work for myself. I was open for business, and ready to go.
Which meant...I thought the clients would just show up. I mean, I was open for business, right?
Wrong. While I was very much open for business, I didn’t know how to sell or market myself. And when I finally figured out that I actually needed to sell and market myself, I freaked.
Back at that time, I thought, “Sell?! Well, that isn’t me – I’m not a sales person, I don’t know how to sell! And I don’t want to turn into a used car salesmen or a telemarketer. No way.”
Plus, I had like 1,000 bad memories of selling – Girl Scout cookies…high school fundraisers…non-profit charity events – I had dreaded them all. Not only dreaded, but like avoided sales…as much as humanly possible.
I did NOT identify as a sales person, nor did I want to.
But guess what...I had to. And so do you.
Why? Because I wanted a thriving business. Because I wanted to make an impact in the world. Because I wanted to be in charge of how I made my money and spent my time. And I’m guessing you feel the same.
I decided that I wanted those things more than I wanted to keep avoiding sales. I decided to step into the fear (instead of away from it), because I knew a life of freedom and fulfillment waited on the other side.
So I worked my mindset and took some major action…and then worked my mindset some more and took some more action. I also got clear on the root cause for my own sales fears and learned what to do about it, so that I stopped playing small when it came to growing my business. AND because I knew that all the smart strategy in the world would still fall flat if I let my fears get in the way.
And you know what I realized?! That selling wasn’t hard. That selling didn’t feel bad. That I WAS a sales person. That I actually learned to LOVE selling.
That selling wasn't about being pushy or slimy or aggressive. Not even close.
It was about being confident, empowered, and honest. And empowering the other person to feel the same. It was about showing up in service. It was about knowing that making money in your business (like a lot of it) is a really really good thing, and allows you to make an even bigger impact in this world.
Fast-forward to when it was time to open my second business, my mindset coaching practice, selling and converting felt like second nature to me. I also realized I was really good at it, and that selling in my own way worked for me.
As a therapist who spent years running my own practice (mostly WITHOUT insurance companies) I had learned how to easily convert a client call into a yes WHILE getting them to know and trust me quickly (we're talking no FB ads, content, or previous connection) so I KNEW the importance of doing sales in an ethical, integrity-based, and effective way.
Moral of the story here ----> If I can go from the hide-out Girl Scout and the ultimate sales-avoider to the owner of two thriving businesses, you can too, my dear!
